Meme’d, again and again!

This month seems to be one for tags! I’ve been tagged thrice so far, this time by the veritable think-tank – Aparna Gonibeed. She created her own meme, perhaps after being inspired by my own insipid attempt to start a one, here. But, in all probability, this meme by Aparna will withstand the test of time and become famous. I hope it does, because people seem to have this fascination for other people’s love lives! πŸ˜€

So, here’re the rules for this meme:

  1. There are no rules.
  2. Tag 6 people to do this Q&A and leave a comment on their blogs saying, “Aparna is the best!”

Instead of adhering to the last part of the second rule, I’ll write six good things about Aparna here, in this post, instead of writing it six times in six different blogs. Fair deal, I hope.

What do you do when –

  • You see a man (or woman) making a pass (trying to woo/flirt/impress) on a woman (or man) you like?

I don’t know, I’ve never had to face this situation. But, I have generally used my Weapons of Mass Flirtations to disastrous effects, and I have been slapped, thrashed, glared at, flipped on, and most recently, blocked on Gtalk by guys whose girlfriends I was hitting on.

  • Some one you like, is not attracted to you?

I can’t help it, can I? I mean, I am what I am, and if that’s not good enough for the other person, then I am helpless.

  • You are attracted to some one, but both of you are in two different cities?

Been there, done that. It’s tough, and little things tend to be blown out of proportion. Distance does not make a heart grow fonder – it’s a catalyst for disaster.

  • You are reading a book, and your best friend wants to borrow it and can’t wait for you to finish reading, β€˜coz he/she has been looking for it for all their life?

I’d claim that I don’t have that book. πŸ˜€

  • You help plan his/her career, and then, they go on to achieve it, leaving you behind, alone?

Good for them, because if he/she was anywhere near, I’d kick their butt. But, on a serious note, I’m not really a person who looks for anything in return for a favor, so I’d be happy for him/her.

  • Six good things about Aparna?

Workaholic. Very very good friend. My conscience, most of the time. Happy-go-lucky. Chilled out. Sexy.

Now, to pass this on to a few people. I’ll pick people who haven’t done a tag so far this month:

Soham, Shiwani. Shefaly, Prarthana, Nomad and Anniyan.

Cheers! πŸ™‚

  1. @ Nikhil:

    I will reply right here πŸ™‚ Only doing it because I like you. Serious. Tags used to be fun.. Ah those were the days.

    What do you do when –

    * You see a man (or woman) making a pass (trying to woo/flirt/impress) on a woman (or man) you like?

    Never happened to me.

    * Some one you like, is not attracted to you?

    You mean, like John Cusack? Or Denzel Washington? I don’t know – the first has too many stalkers, the latter is married.

    * You are attracted to some one, but both of you are in two different cities?

    So? Never heard of the internet? The phone? Letters? Or other people?

    * You are reading a book, and your best friend wants to borrow it and can’t wait for you to finish reading, β€˜coz he/she has been looking for it for all their life?

    I do not lend books or money – in that order – to friends. That includes best friends.

    * You help plan his/her career, and then, they go on to achieve it, leaving you behind, alone?

    They achieved things because of themselves. Feeling left behind is a reaction, not an action. So, nothing…

    * Six good things about Aparna?

    I. Dont. Know. Enough. About. Aparna. πŸ˜‰

  2. @Shefaly
    Hahahaha!!!!!!
    I had told Aparna time and again that vanity comes at a terrible price! πŸ˜€
    Hehehe!! Your responses were frikkin hilarious! I’m still laughing!! πŸ˜€

  3. Well, I have had an incident where this guy not only glared at me, he also made it a point to immediately join me when I was in conversation with a girl he was serious about. This happened at least ten times. Finally I told him I was not interested in her. Then he stopped stalking me

    @Shefaly – F1, rugby, stock markets, national and international politics, fashion, food, technology and business
    plus
    sense of humor
    plus
    cute haircut

    Do you have a clone somewhere in Bangalore?

  4. @Avionic Spanker
    Hehe! That’s never happened to me! πŸ˜€
    And I’m waiting for Shefaly’s reply! πŸ˜€

    @Suda
    Hahaha!! It’s Aparna’s misguided sense of pride! πŸ˜€

  5. @Nikhil – Please note – six things about Aparna is a new statement that Nikhil has created. This was one of the rules

    @the others that Nikhil has tagged – new rule, new rule! Write 6 good things about Nikhil. You guys don’t even know me!

    @Nikhil again – thank you for those 6 things. Sexy? I’ve never got such a compiment before, so I humbly accept! πŸ˜€

    @Nikhil again – Yeay! so much fun!!! πŸ˜€

    @Shefaly – Wow! Awesome! I am blog rolling you!!! πŸ˜€

    @Suda – New rule -Don’t listen to Nikhil’s new rules! Create your own! We are paying ‘Calvin & Hobbes’ version of Tag!!! πŸ˜€

  6. @ Nikhil:

    Glad you found it funny. I doubt Aparna will πŸ™‚

    @ Avionic Spanker:

    Cute haircut? Where did that come from? My current haircut is not the same as in the avatar… Sad to say. πŸ™‚

    As far as I know I have no clone.

    But yes, I can talk of F1 and how pleased I am, despite being a go-Lewis girl for the last 2 years, that there is unpredictability in the season now. What fun!

    And that I watch rugby from behind the sofa mostly.

    And that the stock markets bloodbath hasn’t ended although I wish more of my friends did not lose jobs.

    Or that I think Republicans will get into power again in the US and Labour is suicidal to want to change Brown now (although if he went into treasury, it won’t be too bad).

    And that earlier hemlines used to vary with stock indices (index up, hemline up, get it?); now SS09 hemlines are up/ short so either it is optimism or they now vary inversely with profits (profits down, hemlines up, get it?).

    And that I have eaten dimsum on all 3 of my recent business lunches. May be I should do a post.

    And that no web2.0 firm will make $$$ if large enterprises – yes, the same ones whose arse is being kicked by the market – do not learn how to engage with them.

    And that business, right now, well, I am hiding from the news. That is why I am listening to the radio playing trash songs. And making poha on a weekday for a friend who will visit soon. Right after my housekeeper.

    Done, are we? πŸ™‚

    PS: Nikhil, sorry. Had to say all this, hadn’t I?

  7. @Aparna
    haha! You’re too much! πŸ˜€

    @Shefaly
    Well, from her response, I guess Aparna is really happy too! πŸ˜€
    And yes, you had to say these things! LOL… Hilarious! πŸ˜€

  8. Shefaly –

    Done? Done?? No, not done .. sooo not done πŸ™‚ .. Just coz you have no clone in Bangalore and you don’t have the same haircut and that I am a Kimi fan and that I know next to nothing about rugby and that I agree with you about the bloodbath and that I dont know much abt UK politics and that I get it and I get it again and that you should do a post and that I wanna know more about web 2.0 and that I can give u no tips on making poha is no reason to say “Done” ..

    I just know I am setting myself for some brutal comeback from you, but with a pseudonym like mine .. I may be actually enjoying it. Not too much though.

    and
    Ph D .. *wow*

    and you are blogrolled

  9. @ Aparna:

    I see. Thanks.

    @ Avionic Spanker:

    What? No tips on poha? Just as well. I made poha for a true-blue Maharashtrian some weeks ago and he said it was very good πŸ™‚ That is good enough for me.

    You are easily wowed, I see πŸ™‚

    Now this is an open question. I am puzzled. Is blogrolling some kind of reward for quick repartee?

    Oh, when I say we are done, we are done. So we are. Now.

  10. Shefaly

    Well, I wish I knew what good Poha is. My cook has been subjecting me to his version every second day.

    Not very easily. But I made an exception in your case.

    In my defense, let me say I have gone through many posts in your blogs. I can’t comment about others.

    Oh, ok πŸ˜€ .. Done it is.

  11. @ Nikhil : All I did was leave a casual comment in WTML and now even I have become a victim of this tag.

    “Distance does not make a heart grow fonder – it’s a catalyst for disaster” – Bang on, buddy πŸ˜€

    Btw, I already tagged Anniyan for that love tag and he has done it too.

  12. Wooww…Thank You for not tagging me this time. I oh so sincerly appreciate the same πŸ™‚ Trust me I was really relived. πŸ™‚

    And good answerrs, I just had to connect with this statement very strongly : “Distance does not make a heart grow fonder – it’s a catalyst for disaster.” *swinging hands in the air and doing the friends grinding dance* True, True and So very True.

  13. Looking at Aparna’s comment saying “Nikhil again” I thought again was your last name. Phew, so it seems you have made it, you have answered the tag. I am yet to appear for this exam πŸ™‚

  14. Did I fall out of your good books? Why didn’t you tag me?

    What would you do if you are attracted bilaterally to someone in a different city? – You go ahead with the relationship!

    Dude, you are talking to the ‘God of all Long Distance Relationships’ here! My lova stays over at the Big Apple!

    (PS: I think you are going to like the new song that I posted on the blog)

  15. OMG !! not another tag …
    I don’t know, I’ve never had to face this situation. But, I have generally used my Weapons of Mass Flirtations to disastrous effects, and I have been slapped, thrashed, glared at, flipped on, and most recently, blocked on Gtalk by guys whose girlfriends I was hitting on

    And sure, I don’t mind… You can steam my disclaimer! πŸ˜€ It’s like someone stealing the “Do not steal” board! Hehehe!!

    @Barath
    Hehe.. in all this, the GFs have the most fun, right? πŸ˜‰

    @Vishesh

    @Chakoli
    Which book? I don’t know what you’re talking about! I never had that book! Who told you I had that book!? πŸ˜€

    @Kris
    Hehe! No man, this one’s for only those who haven’t done a tag this month! πŸ˜›
    Sure, I’ll check it out… πŸ™‚

  17. DUDE!!! I am not writing another tag again. I HATE tagging. Please don’t mind dude. The previous one I did just because I wanted to do something different.

  18. he he great take on the tag. . .
    ” I’d claim that I don’t have that book. ”

    He he thats exactly what I do , And i go great lengths to hide that book when the person is around. . .

  19. “Distance does not make a heart grow fonder – it’s a catalyst for disaster.”

    Depends on the couple and their efforts and desire to make it work.

  20. @Anniyan
    I am sorry, I didn’t realize you’d already done a tag this month.. I wanted to tag those who hadn’t… πŸ˜€

    @Priya
    LOL… Glad we think alike! πŸ˜€

    @Reema
    Not always… πŸ™‚

  21. some of the wisest words :p But then these are just words ;p

    1st and 2nd happened with me…my approach is to watch the show rather than join it and make it egregious.

    But there is this one little thing thats quite strange and its some imaginary love which am not able to find. May be some reality will soon conceive it :p I think am on last stage of this love scenario permutations.

  22. @ Nik:

    hey i just realized i’ve been tagged, sorry for such a late awakening! (like always, i know!!)

    okay, this becomes my next project… thanks for the tag ofcourse…

    apart from all that, your answers to those questions above are funny and witty like u always have been… 4th one is my favorite!! =)
